He spewed a lot of passive-aggressive and not-so passive vitriol towards Noah Reid. That being said, some people love the “hit me over the head” type of comedy with laugh tracks (I’m looking at you, entire CBS roster of comedies) where they don’t have to work too hard to find the humor.

Those are the only 2 complaints I am aware of from people who don't like it. Unlike some actors who’ve been forced to film scenes that have called for them to do something extreme, the scene Eugene didn’t like filming called for him to do something hilariously mundane. And the homophobes, well, they don’t count.

Arts and Entertainment; Media Beat: “Schitt’s Creek” is deserving of the hype. Last year there was this writer who wrote a total BS article about the show and the local Up Close and Personal event.

I dont like this show..reason: As episodes pass by, nothing gets better. A fresh take on sports: the biggest news and most entertaining lists. Again, I'm sure this changes with time, but I didn't laugh once for the pilot, which didn't sell me on the writing. It is on the basis of Dan Levy’s brilliantly sarcastic performance alone that I maintain “Schitt’s Creek”, deserved every Emmy it got and more. While filming that sequence, Eugene had to have his hair soaked which completely messed up … I worked at NBC many years ago when he was a writer and performer on Letterman and he had such a 'big man on campus" vibe because he was in the "In" Letterman team. That is one thing I think I have heard. its a charming show with great characters. Where everyone fits in However, the show grew on me, and he just became part of it.

I liked him a few weeks ago, when he helped in the NYC meeting. On top of that, any issues that come up at work can easily cause strife at home. I do believe it is an acquired taste, because it is quirky and different. As Schitt’s Creek’s head writer, Dan Levy had the power of the pen and in one case he used it to mess with his dad. While all of those things come into play for the most successful TV actors, there are certain aspects of the job that are far less ideal. Agree with this sentiment. The characters are just simply not that like-able imo. We then got bored a couple weeks later and started watching it again and now we LOVE it and "ew David" is part of our normal vocabulary. The family became more identifiable as people once they settled in at the motel and so became more likable. I could see some people turned off by how awful they all were at the beginning and sadly we still live in a world where not everyone is comfortable with some of the lifestyles.

The rest of the cast is well meh..? I guess I am more sensitive to this stuff than most people, but there it is.

I remember getting tired of the way everyone spoke in such a hesitant manner, always roundabout and very affected. Everybody is different. It took me a long time to like Schitt's Creek because of Chris Elliot.

I personally can't stand Moira.

patrick was unbelievable as a love interest and really boring.

Illustration by Kenzie Todd '22. Perhaps it was because my parents had initially recommended it to me or the Netflix trailer that harkened back to cringeworthy 70s sitcoms, but I was reluctant to watch “Schitt’s Creek.”. Facebook. On top of Catherine O’Hara, Schitt’s Creek’s cast also included another comedy god in Eugene Levy, and Chris Elliott is also held in extremely high regard. That said, nothing is for everyone. I think the show also works on a very subtle level of character development, such as how Moira comes across as very selfish in the early seasons but then you realise she's far more astute then she lets on and she has a way of coming across totally self-centred but is really building up everyone around her, which is not immediately obvious (and only really becomes undeniably clear with Stevie in Season 5).

I found the "click" moment for me (and a couple of friends) was when Johnny was asked to give the eulogy for a guy he's never met and knows absolutely nothing about, which just a classic comedy premise and the execution was beautiful (especially Moira coming to his rescue). Different people like different things. I love the subtle humor of this show, from the dialogue to the facial expressions. In the moments between awkward Zoom breakout rooms, online exams, and collapsing internships, I turned to Netflix to keep my sanity. Also, if you're the creator/producer/writer/star of the show, wouldnt you at least pick someome attractive to be your on-screen love interest? You can find naysayers in any acclaimed show. I apologize for looking for answers here.

As others have posted, there is an issue of personal taste. I kept watching mainly because Eugene Levy is one of my household gods of old.

The main criticism that I have seen about the show is how utterly unrealistic it is and how Patrick's appearance on the show changed the dynamic. We can all go back to loving this awesome show. If you're here, obviously you like it. Unfortunately for Schitt’s Creek’s Eugene Levy, he has revealed that he really didn’t like filming one of the show’s more memorable early sequences.

Its odd. And yet, I've encountered people who hate on it and they can't even express why. I really enjoy the show now, but it took a while to bed in and I nearly stopped watching it in Season 1, mainly because it felt like a very safe and familiar premise (the UK sitcom To the Manor Born and the USA's Arrested Development have very similar basic ideas, although completely different tones and executions) and a couple of the characters, Roland in particular, were profoundly annoying. I have one friend who dislikes the show and says it is too "over the top"... characters like Roland and Moira are not believable to them.

What 'Schitt's Creek' Scene Did Eugene Levy Hate Filming? After watching 3 episodes of it my wife and I were like "this show is dumb".

Cookies help us deliver our Services. I should probably eliminate this person from my life. Johnny is definitely my favorite character.

We can all go back to loving this awesome show.

But once I got to like the characters, and Stevie added some normalcy, I became a rabid fan. Media Beat: “Schitt’s Creek” is deserving of the hype. The World's Most Entertaining Car Website, Why Howard Stern Thinks Matthew McConaughey Desperately Needs Therapy.

Which is fine. Unique lists featuring pop culture, entertainment and crazy facts. Some parts of the show are funny, and other parts are straight weird and cringey. As Schitt’s Creek’s head writer, Dan Levy had the power of the pen and in one case he used it to mess with his dad. Thanks everyone who answered. by Genevieve Hoover. I have my own theories knowing the people who have expressed their opinion, but I'd be interested in hearing from the general public. Of course, Tom Cruise is a pretty unusual guy and most actors have things they simply don’t want to do on set.

I don't find aggressively annoying characters funny (Chris Elliott) and think the wealthy fish out of water premise is just one joke over and over again. Fully aware that Eugene Levy has an incredible head of hair which he takes great pride in, Dan wrote a Schitt’s Creek scene in which his dad’s character had fluid dripping on him in his sleep.
