I liked this book because it had lessons about bullying, and how to find your true friends.

I received this book as part of the LibraryThing Early Reviewers program. Readers who have experienced recent family member deaths may want to hold off on this one.

The main idea of this book is when Pb has to write a speech for a class to gain extra credit. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about this book, but grew to love it. In the story speechless a kid named Jimmy gets the tragic news that he has to speak at his cousins wake. At first, it’s for the awesome prize. His family currently lives in Oswego, IL, where the race of suburbia meets the quiet of farm country. Even though he can’t remember one positive memory of his cousin, he delivers a eulogy at the end that readers won’t forget. My connection to this book is that I have had friends ignore me in the past so I kind of felt like Jelly.

Bonus points for being Canadian. This book was a. Speechless by Jennifer Mook-Sang is a book about a boy named Joseph but everybody calls him Jelly.
